I am using LabelDirect software.  How can I get labels to print sequential numbers? In the label [tippy title="Design Window"]ld-design-window1[/tippy] insert a text element.

Under ‘Source’, for ‘Type’ deselect ‘’Fixed’ and select ‘Incremental Number’.

In the resulting dialogue box, for ‘Start Value’ select ‘Serial Number’.

Give this label element a name if you wish, or leave it with the default name.

For ‘Next Number’ enter ‘001’ or ‘01’ etc. depending on the number of leading zeros you prefer.

Click ‘Next’

To accept the default settings click ‘Next’ again.

Again, to accept the default settings click ‘Finish’.

Now click the ‘Print’ button to see the result of your settings.

In the [tippy title="Print Preview"]ld-print-preview[/title]  window, do as follows:

Set  Identical Copies to 1

Set Serialised Batch to the final number in the series you wish to print.

Click Print.

If you want to print another batch during the same session but not starting with the next number following on from your last batch, click the Restart button and re-enter the details.

I am using LabelDirect software and my barcode is too wide for the label.  I can adjust the height using the mouse, but how can I reduce the width? Do the following:

  • Select the barcode.
  • Click the Formatting Tab.
  • In the Styles list-box, choose High Density.
  • If the resulting size of the barcode is still unsuitable then you can create your own style:
  • Click New.
  • Set X Dimension to the required barcode width.
  • Give the style an appropriate name.
  • Click OK.

The width of the barcode will vary depending on the size of each number being converted, so when laying out your label don’t forget to allow sufficient space for large numbers.
