The print quality of my labels is blotchy and inconsistent.  Why? You have the print head temperature set too high for the ribbon you are using.  [tippy title="See how to change this setting."]

  • Increasing/decreasing the print density of your LabelStation is a matter of adjusting the temperature of the print head, as follows:
  • LabelView 6Edit (menu) > Label SetUp (from list) > Label SetUp (tab) > Temperature (0-15)

I am using a LabelStation 342:  How can I stop the printer producing blank or poor quality labels? Ensure that your label stock is not past its shelf life or of a poor quality generic brand.
Why are my labels faint and patchy? 1)  Your ribbon and label stock are incompatible.  You may need to change your ribbon to a different type, e.g. from Industrial to General Purpose.  Visit our Labelstation Ribbon page for more details.2)  You may need to raise your print temperature/density setting within LabelView/LabelDirect

3) Your label stock is contaminated, possibly by handling.

4) The [tippy title="print head"]print-head-in-situ1[/tippy] might need cleaning.  This should be done with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) but White Spirit is very effective. Use a soft, lint free cloth or untreated tissue paper.
